Nutritional Supplements: how much of what??

Recommended Posts

When I ask a question on this forum, I always get more that the answer – compliment to the members!

I have taken a big (physically big) vitamin and mineral tablet daily for decades. My common sense tells me that intense training needs more than just the so-called balanced diet.

These tablets are expensive and I am sure I get too much of some and too tittle of others – meaning the different types of minerals and vitamins

Of course I can go see the local dietician, but first prize will be if I could obtain a short list of most likely shortcomings, with minimum daily quantities, so that one can read the labels of the different brands and compare them with a little more intelligent layman’s understanding.

Anybody with smart ideas about this one?

Hi,

Throw out the vitamin tablets. Unless you have a known condition that requires some supplement then rather buy that specific element. If you training hard and eating properly you will get all the vitamins and minerals you need from your food. Most energy and recovery drinks / bars, if you taking them have, have added vitamins and minerals anyway so you could find when you add up everything that you eat and drink you getting much more than needed.

I stopped taking vitamins a year ago and haven't notice any difference to my training or recovery.
