It does not have to be a complete mtb route. Think that is impossible maybe :)

Could i please ask you to explain the route?

Make your way to Fourways, then get onto Main road and meander past Lonehill and Kyalami. Turn left at road that comes from race track toward Olievenhoutbosch. Then take Newroad at Belleau (not sure about spelling) - you'll turn right here.

Take Newroad all the way through to Midrand (this will be road majority of the time) and turn left on Old Jhb road. (don't go to Olifantsfontein and past Jacaranda Radio station offices through the veld - that is hijack spot). You can take this all the way past Midrand Spur until you cross Brakfontein. Turn right on Brakfontein down through Midstream (Red Barn will eventually be on your right). Turn left at T-junction and head towards Irene and gof course. You can then either head through Centurion by carrying on straight to Botha avenue or you can turn right on Nellmapius - go under the railway line up toward Cornwall Hill. Go over R21 and turn left at Engen. Carry on with this road which will bring you to Waterkloof High School. Turn right on Hans Strijdom (not sure of new name) and head East towards Lois avenue. Turn left and carry on with this road until you reach Menlyn - guess you can find your way from there?

I will however advise against this. This route is the best route to take, but still dangerous. Especially the Old Jhb part and Nellmapius piece

Alright I have read over all of the posts. really concerned that you recommend not to do this...

The one route that i worked on before posting was as follow:

Go down the spruit to where you come out by the highway (close to rivonia off ramp)

Carry on next to high way on the R564 to the R101 (think that is old JHB road)

Carry on to where the R101 T junctions, turn right onto Eufees Rd , Christiaan de wet, George Storrar, Middle street, Jan Shoba and then lastly right into south.

This is to the location where I would like to be. (LC de Villiers) (TUKS athletic fields)

It sounds like a suicidal ride.

Nonetheless, all the traffic and crossings will take a lot of time. A one-way ride will probably take you up to two hours.

Antois the route you just described is exactly what I do. You should definitely do it on a mountain bike and stick to path ways and the dirt shoulder as much as possible , I have only ever done it on a Sunday morning trying to avoid as much traffic as you can, I have done it on a road bike but even on a Sunday it was a little hairy

Good morning guys! I did the ride over the weekend, and all I can say is that it is no suicidal ride! In fact I enjoyed it sooooo much! would always recommend 2 or more riders but a definite must do!
