Training books

There are loads of books out there on training.

Was in exclusive and looked the Bicycling Big Book of training, then also the mountain bike training.

A quick amazon google brings up all this:

Friel seems to be the main man many hubbers like, but the question is, which one is a good one to use as a start to training ? Someone who wants to do mountain biking, but is starting with zero skill and zero fitness and has about 10 months to get fit enough to finish a 3 day stage race?

Thanks Fanie

These are plans. Would like to get a book that can be read over the next two weeks or so to get to understand the basics. Even looked at the base building for basics book.

I know there was a thread some time ago about the HR calculation thing that had some good info, but cant find it. Hence heading into the books.
