Jeez, it doesn't stop! Please explain remote jammer, thought that was a way to keep a car unlocked at the mall

Also works for gates and garage doors.

Just noticed the timeline here, OP registered, posted and hasn't logged in since, so might not get a reply.

As far as I understand it, a remote jammer stops the signal. So you think you're locking the car because you press the button, but it never registers - you need to watch the lights flash to confirm or check the door is locked physically to be sure.

Now how would this work at a home for garage door? The only way possible would be for the guys to jam it whilst you're leaving, so the door never closes. but surely you'd see that happening - i always wait for mine to start closing.

unless I'm missing something.

You've got it right, the door/gate doesn't close. Some people don't watch...

Many garage/gate systems are relatively simple, so another option is they have a device which just sends out tons of signals. They drive around neighborhoods looking for things that open.

Agree with you shebeen. The problem is with us. We become complacent or in such a hurry we 'press the button' and then drive off, not checking to see if it closed, which is negligence. I speak about myself first, and learnt from this because this action of mine used to put my family at risk as they were left sleeping in a house with the garage access open.

AND talking about closing, a colleague saw the door closing and drove off. Fortunately an observant neighbour phoned to say the door was half open. The mechanism seized up half way through.

We should all remain conscientious regarding personal security.

Same applies to your car. When they use jamming devices, its only successful if we do not CHECK if the door closed, or your car alarm activates, or the lock engages, etc. Vigilance people. Vigilance.

In the current environment, we have to take responsibility for our choices, and when we don't check, we make a choice to be negligent. Safety is a habit just like negligence is habitual. Break the cycle.
