Jeep Team’s MTB superstars, Pierre Smith and Thinus Redelinghuys, were crowned champions of the world’s toughest single stage MTB race, the 24-hour, 230km Trans Baviaans Challenge on Saturday, 15 August, which started in Willow more, Eastern Cape, and ended in Jeffreys Bay.

" World's toughest single stage MTB race"

Not really.

It is hard and long but the terrain is pretty easy, it is also more  descent than ascent and often as it was this year, you get a tailwind for a good long stretch.

This does not detract from the achievement in winning the race, well done to these guys!

The organisers used to call it the "World's LONGEST single stage MTB race"

But then the Trans Karoo and 36One came along...

I guess they settled on "toughest" because that is harder to measure than kilometers...
