Event Name: Fruitways AQuelle Apple Blossom Ride
When: 4 October 2015
Where: Oak Valley, Elgin, Western Cape
Category: MTB

Distances – 60km, 30km, 15km and 2km

Event Description

Long route – Starts with 7km of open farm riding on the Oak Valley before heading up your first ‘Mother’ hill and passing the iconic Oak Valley Flower tunnels until you reach Eikenhof farm. You will then be taken through a section of single track which is pure food for the soul before starting your next climb, its long but kind and will reward you handsomely. Crossing over the R321 you head around the Eikenhof dam and up towards Sir Lowry’s pass until your journey back to Oak Valley, through the best of Gerhard Huiskens single track. Country roads will lead you home through Applegarth and Molteno farm to enjoy the festivities with your family and friends at the finish line.

Medium route – fantastic new route which shares the first 15 km with the long route and is great riding as you venture through farms only open for the Apple Blossom. You will experience a bit of everything, open farm roads, a few climbs and great single track, suitable for those wanting to take the next step up.

Short route - all on farm roads with about 1km or so of easy wide single track, not technical at all and great for kids.

2km kiddie’s cycle will be in and around the field and Mum/Dad can run alongside.

The route profile will be confirmed by the end of the week. Our route designer very sadly passed away recently and our planning has been delayed. Will update as soon as we can. Thank you .

Dirtopia's involvement explains inflated entry fee. Was planning to do the race but Dirtopia is notorious for bad route markings so I will give this a skip

Ek het nog nooit enige probleme ondervind met hulle races nie. Inteendeel hulle events is van die beter events wat ek al gedoen het in ag geneem route markings , waterpunte en timing.

Hello Jaco fiets
Dirtopia's only involvement is online entries and timing of the 60km race for us. Pieter du Plessis from Iquela events is marking the route. And our entry fee is not higher than PPA events. It is a superb route and most of it not normally open to the public, so we sorry to hear you will be missing it !! Happy cycling

Strange,..I was under the impression PPA is involved with Apple Blossom, so didnt even bother, until I realised Dirtopia is involved, and entered immediately. See you all Sunday!!

Edit: At the start everyone climb on their bike, some will climb off and on during the race, and climb off their bike at the end.

No doubt, alot of climbing it seems ^_^
