Apparently West Rand Cycles are good too... but Linden Cycles is my choice. They never, ever rip you off or 'over-sell' as they have enough business...

This would be the obvious choice as Eben and them have a great reputation... but dude its a Concept store :(

This place really depends on who you get as a consultant obviously... as i have only had bad experiences with Cajees Retail Crossing. Last time I had a good experience with Cajees was back when they were in Westgate in the 90's.

Not a chance I will ever let them touch my bikes. I detest going into that place.

Cyclists workshop at Nicholas Plants close to the Dome, Joshua and his staff is great help. He is also involved with the Ghost Factory Shop in Lazerpark (close to Honeydew Police station). I've had brilliant service from both these shops.

I also like going to Linden Cycles because they usually have stock of pretty much everything meaning that I can go there and probably walk out with the parts I need (without even picking up the phone).

I have learned not to always go for the best/cheapest price but rather where I know the price and service is both good.

Absolutely, and over and above this, I never haggle on normal price . If you want to build a good relationship with a LBS you cannot be the dude who always wants R100.

I have no problem paying a slightly higher price if the extra care is given.

Northcliff Cycles

Linden Cycles

Trailhead

Mikes Bikes

Sprocket & Jack

Depends if MTB or road and what you want done

Both.

Basically, what I want is:

Place must use a torque wrench religiously.

Dont ask me if I want a major or minor service, fix what needs to be fixed.

Dont tell me something will be done tomorrow and then its not. If its going to be late, let me know before I drive all the way out there.

From the sounds of it, I need to go chat to either Anton or Mike.

Thanks for the help!

just bite the bullet and drive to midrand. See Anton at summit cycles. Dude is the coolest bike shop owner around and always has time for clients. It's well worth the drive.

The Sheriff definitely gets my vote too.

Admittedly I don't know the bike shops well on your side of the world, but, even if I was out that way I'd still take my bikes to Summit.

From this thread, I have ascertained that there are too many freaking bike shops in this area.

My vote goes to Bruce's cycles. Dave is a pretty cool guy, and you may want to pop in for 5 mins to quickly pick something up, but end up chatting for an hour.

cajees only ever because it's close and open on a sunday morning.

You can also try northcliff cycles. Alex takes care of his business very well. Treats every person walking into his shop like he is about to drop 100 grand on a bike, even though you are only buying a bmx tube. Stays open pretty late over weekends as well.
