Freehub spring is broken that holds the pawls

I noticed yesterday cycling back from work that I could hardly hear my freehub clicking and also it felt like there was a slight delay on the engagement when I would start to pedal.

So I opened it up last night and cleaned out all the muck but then a noticed that the spring that runs around the three pawl was in two pieces (snapped). It can still hold two of the pawls but I will obviously need to get all three going again.

Any idea where I can get a spring from? I recon I could bend a piece of wire like a old keyring (those cheap free ones they give you.)

I see the one side needs a right angle hook to go into the hole to hold the wire in place.

Ill attach a picture of what I found that is the same as what I have.

Any tips would be much appreciated!

I managed to find one

Picked it up now. Now just to try and refit those paws later.... Apparently I can use thread to hold the paws down while pushing it back in.

Ill see tonight.

Im so glad I dont have to try mcgyver it.... Im sure I would be dreading that every time I speed down a hill.

I have a spare freebody, it's a novatec but looks like the same internals. If it'll work, you can take it off me.

Thanks bud

I got the spring so I should be cool.

Always nice to know there is someone that wants to help  :whistling:
