VMWare, Win7 virtual machine?

This seems the way to go but I don't know if the old data base is accessible from the virtual machine.

I still have a XP pc at home so will transfer data there and export to laptop.

Sorry Polar. You will not see me again!!!

Me thinks Garmin is the way to go now.

I also hit this wall a few weeks back when i upgraded to Win 10, which is actually fantastic and did quite a lot of research into the matter.

Whilst i was also beyond appalled at the response from Polar, it seems as though the dirty was actually done by microsoft who decided to drop support for the IR unit "the day before release".

I think (hope) that MS will come to their senses soon and provide this patch.

Yes, Microsoft is the initial culprit but Polar's response to the problem is also not flying with me.

Polar Flow works fine on my Win 10 laptop, but that's not my issue. My issue is with the Polar watch that I was thinking of using for running. It's a Polar A300, and the calorie count on the watch goes up even when I'm not wearing the watch, which to me is quite odd. It's been sent to Polar SA for the second time now to see what the problem could be. I think I'll get a refund and get myself something else, like a TomTom Runner 2.

Could you export the data and then import to the Polar software installed on a Win7 VM?

Just a thought.

Unfortunately any product with a proprietary comms protocol is going to be a bit of a risk in the first place. It's a bit "I'm not mad everyone else is" type of thinking.

It's still very annoying considering the popularity of Polar products.

I think you're right to go to Garmin or indeed any other product with ANT+ or preferably BT.

Personally, i think that whilst Polar were, without doubt the market leaders in this segment, even up to 5 years ago, there simply is no doubt that they've been left behind in all aspects and all disciplines by everyone else. I won't buy Polar again - largely because of the contents of their stance regarding 3+ year old equipment and Win 10 but also because compared to all the other brands out there, the Polar offerings are hideous.

Polars CEO will make the same statement as the Nokia CEO in a few years time.

"We didn’t do anything wrong, but somehow, we lost"

We all know where Nokia is these days...trying to play catch up...

I know this is old, not sure if anyone figured it out but there is a working fix. I have a RS800CX:

1. Installed the following IrDA drivers from Polar site:

page: http://support.polar.com/en/support/downloads/Polar_IrDA_USB_Adapter_Drivers

driver:http://support.polar.fi/downloads/IrDA_USB_Adapter/Win_Drivers.zip

2. Ran the following command:

2.1 Click the window in your left lower corner --> All Apps --> Windows System --> "RIGHT CLICK ON THE" Command Prompt --> "Choose" MORE --> Run in administrator mode --> then type:

- netcfg –u ms_irdanetcfg –c p –I ms_irda
- press Enter

This installs and registers the irda driver on win 10

3. Run the following comands. They show the state. Should say stopped:
3.1. sc query irda
3.2 sc query irmon

4. Now install Pro trainer 5 (get latest from Polar)

5. Plug in the IrDA dongle and connect the software to the watch. You can run the 2 query commands again, they should now sy "RUNNING".

6. Watch should connect to software.

Thanks.  I did not bother.  Bought a Garmin.  My Polar 720 has had its days and needed to be replaced in anyway.

I should not complain with the 12-13 odd years of service I got out of it though.
