There is a very good article on this subject in the Opinion and Analysis pages of today's Star newspaper. It is written by Crispian Olver the man who initiated the Freedom Rides.

Worth reading ,but I couldn't find it online. If somebody could try?

Big thing that the motorists who dislike us so badly forget , is that most cyclists that are on the road are poor commuters using their bikes to get to work and earn a living. I have no stats but the fatalities among them must be far higher than for recreational cyclists.

The argument that we cannot complain because we don't pay is seriously flawed. I Would pay tomorrow if it ensured some form of safety.

How many of you have noticed on the N1 or basically anywhere, the busses big and small as well as trucks who have this big 100 sticker on the back of the vehicle but they never travel at that speed!
