Road crank on a mtb?

So I've got an SLX crank 26,36,48 (9sp) for my Storm 1. Gearing should be spot on for me, and I don't think there should be any issues with clearance of the chain-stays. I'd like to know if anyone can suggest a fd to work with this setup. Shifters and rest of the drivetrain is currently 2 x 10 full XT

Really would like this working as smooth as possible. I've been doing a lot of my own "research" and there are a few models of Fds to consider, but I would like to hear from guys with similar setups as to what Fds they're using and how well it works.

Look forward to your responses.

Cheers

I used a Deore 3x on the very same setup and it worked well. Smooth .......just had to raise the clamp a wee bit to allow for the extra height of the chainring. No probs at all.

Thanks Desmond

Should that be a 9sp fd or doesn't that matter? I've read that the cage needs to be the right size to accommodate the 48t. Would you know the model number for the fd you're talking about?

Will get back to you with the model number.  Plain simple 3x usual FD anybody would use. These would be  more bike specific and nothing fancy at all.

Shimano Altus  on my bike - front shifting is brilliant . Listed as a 7/8 speed FD . I.m running a 9 speed setup.

Thanks that's interesting to know. So if the Altus and Deore fds work with a 48t, then the last piece of the puzzle is to see if they will work with my 3x10 xt shifter. Guess the the only way to find out,is to try it.
