Freedom Ride

Everything was excellent except the cyclist. It's amazing how idiotic cyclist get when you put them in big groups.

I must say today I saw karma at work. There were lots of knob heads racing (not a friggen race!!) but in particular these two guys racing through the bunches, down the right into oncoming traffic like idiots, zig zagging in and out the guys just trying to have fun. They would race past stop, then a bit later would coming racing past again. Almost taking me and my buddies out a few times.

After doing these dangerous moves a few times I really thought they were going to take somebody out. On that long fast drag past Alex karma popped in to say hi... As they came racing past again they clipped each other and went down really hard at speed.

I stopped, made sure they were ok, then told them that's what happens when you act like knob heads and rode off, luckily it was only their egos that took damages though.

I must add that Gugu Zulu in his Stay Wider of the Rider lumo yellow kit also raced through the packed like a knob, he caused an accident that he didn't even notice as he raced away.

Other than that, what a lekker day out!

Did the ride SS this am. Great time out. Saw a good few hubbers like Richie and the Hunter Cycle guys having fun. We certainly woke the folk up in Hillbrow with our boom boxes sounding louder than their high fidelity!

A couple commented that they didn't want to breakdown in Hllbrow as they were sure they would loose their bikes. I told them it was worse than that as they were likely to loose their kit. They sped up especially as someone else commented that they could expect to loose their chamois cream too.

Excellent day out with great organisation. Rode slowly with my unfit son and never saw any bad behaviour from anyone. Couple of falls but its wasn't a race but a ride, big difference if you don't get it.

My third freedom ride. I enjoyed the route. Cars we experienced on the route were all calm and tolerant but we had some speeding past very close when we were all squashed Into one lane on Louis Botha...I got a reminder why I don't ride on the road.

Good fun seeing all walks of life out on their bikes having fun.

Loved seeing all the moms and dads with their lighties! The kind of thing I can't wait for.

Thanks for the feedback guys.

I totally agree, Louis Botha was scary and dangerous. We are extremely grateful that only 5 falls/incidents were reported and in all cases, riders got back up and completed the ride.

It was an amazing and to us, our most successful ride. Thank you guys for joining us and for all the support!

We put together a small survey. Would be great to have your feedback. Click here

Two things:

1. Is there not an environmentally friendly option for those water sachets?

2. I would add that the guys from Bonifokasi (spelling?) helped me a lot, as I was unprepared for my puncture.
