I am looking to try these out :

Does anyone have an experience with them? I know they a rather budget, but if enjoy them i could always move onto some pricier 5-10's in the future.

While we are at it, are trail pedals (XT or even PDM 540's) worth it?

The idea is to get trail pedals + trail shoes and to be able to clip out when things get interesting.

I don't know about the shoes but I cannot afford those pedals and purchased the cheaper version.  Must say, I am happy (very) with the purchase and the style of pedal.  Larger platform is great, easy get away from a stop street.  My cheaper version can be stripped and serviced and this makes it a plus for me.

My other pair of MTB shoes are the Serfas which look very similar and are the budget version.  Lasted three years now and go through the washing machine every now and again.  Budget is good for me in this regard.  Cannot see the need for shoes that cost a fortune.

I bought these shoes about 2 months, still going strong and comfortable. Did the contersman enduro with them and forgot I was wearing them, so that is good.

Con:

They are little bit heavy, 5-ten kestrel are 403g per shoe size 9, I weighted my size 9 at 470g per shoe.

Also I wish there was better strap/piece of velcro to tuck the laces away nicely.

Pro:

A third of the price of kestrel.

Comfy and look solidly made.

Thanks, that is very helpful. Was just a little worried about the lack of strap at the top.

What pedals are you using?
