OP, 9-speed drivetrain components are still going to be around for a long time, so don't stress about finding replacement parts. You might not find the exact XTR parts, but can make due with other groupset parts. 

 

Either way, if the bug bites hard, you'll probably be crippled by "N+1 syndrome" very soon and be hankering after something newer.

Shimano ended this XTR M970 range in 2009.It's a 9 speed group so you can get other parts to fit but XTR bits are scarce and very expensive.

M970 bits might be hard to come by but 9 spd XT and SLX bits are still available and mostly compatible.
