So in relation to another fred around warranty's I decided its time to spill the guts on experiences on warranty''s. I mean your bike ( when broken ) is only as good as the claim you submit and the speed , commitment and diligence the brand put into the claim

So I am starting this not to beach and moun ( ) , but rather to share experiences so that the brands first of all take note that information is KING to the customer and so that others can make informed decisions based on others experiences around the process

So things to consider when submitting a claim

Short description ( not your life story) of the claim

the process - short description and brand of bike

then the

good - about the claim and process ( if any)

bad - about the claim and process ( if any)

and things like did they give you a loan bike

response times from the supplier and once the claim was submitted the time it took to resolve and get your bike back

OVERALL RATING OUT OF 10 with 10 Being fantastic and 0 being crappy

I think that people may choose to buy different if they know more about the overall brand experience

Most of us only get to know this once you do a claim ( and then its normally to late as you are economically and emotionally invested)

Wife's 2013 Spez Stumpy HT (carbon) had a crack on the seat tube.

Took it back to Complete Cyclist in Bryanston and was replaced with a 2014 frame in three days. No if's, no but's, no coconuts.

10/10 for service and ease of experience.

Cervelo S2 - a small ,very small crack was noted by Northcliff cycles. Warranty claim initiated for new frame. Even with importers changes since I bought the bike and not having bought the bike from Northcliff who recently became resellers the claim was processed speedily and without hassle. I had to submit the original invoice and a short letter. No bad to mention.

Being Xmas and new year etc the new frame arrived within 4 weeks...2 thumbs up. Did not need a loan bike and carried on riding my old one.

Overall rating 10/10 for Cervelo, twowheeltrading and especially Northcliff cycles.

So my Giant XTCs frame broke over the holidays Dec 2014, the first Giant shop to open was the new giant concept store in durbanville in January. Dropped my bike off on the monday.

Didn't ask for a loaner as i knew i wouldnt have a chance to ride anyways because of work. I didn't buy the bike from them so i expected and did pay for the rebuild. I did inquire about rather upgrading to an anthem frame which they did offer but because of cash i couldn't do.

Picked my brand new bike up the friday. The only crap thing was the mechanic tore my one ESI grip taking it off and putting it back. (I got new handlebars and stem while i was at it.) They didn't offer an apology/replacement but i was so glad to have my new bike i didn't even complain. Guess the "salesman" that gave me my bike back thought the grip was torn when bike came in.

Even though that exact frame will be on the classifieds soon i am still riding a giant (wife bought me an anthem frame over the current holidays) :w00t:
