The Gem Diamonds Kalahari Challenge is a world-class full-service event; only 4 hours from Gauteng but a whole world away. With a limited field event of only 400 riders, you'll be able to enjoy the miles and miles of stunning bushveld singletrack, gnarly technical uphills, some Kalahari "Mountains" and hardpack track uninterrupted. After the ride is said and done you'll be able to kick back in the luxury "Chill Zone" before resting your head in fully-equipped canvas tents, complete with mattress, pillows, sheets and blankets!

Brilliant event. Few enough people that you can find your friends in the food-tent, and few enough people that there's very little congestion on the singletrack.

I'll second that. If I didn't have an appointment in Rhodes I would be back to ride it again - awesome event.

I rode this event last year and it's BRILLIANT.

 

Only 4 hours' drive from Jhb, easy border post and it feels like you're on holiday as soon as you arrive.

 

Great route - not much climbing and not technical (there's some sand and a "few" thorns).

 

Highly recommended.
