Merida upgrade advice

Hey all

 

Question - I have a 2010 Merida ninety six 3000 with a 100mm travel shock.

Is it possible to upgrade the fork to a 140mm travel????

Hi,

 

Don't go more than 120mm. Handling will be terrible with a 140mm fork on there and you will void warranty for sure.

Agree with Iwan. That 96 has quite a short steerer tube. Longer suspension puts more leverage on the frame. It also changes the geo. 96 is a fast light bony weight-forward XC bike. I maintain one for a friend. If you want a trail bike rather sell the 96 and get what you want.

 

I do think that 110mm to 120mm could lighten the 96 up a bit and maybe a riser bar too to get your weight back a little....if that's what you are looking for.
