Thanks KarlvN, I already decided on the Silverback and fully agree on what you are saying. Im buying a complete package. Bike, shoes, helmet and then n extra chain and few other things.

I think it would be best if I stay with the 2x11. Im still busy recovering from a kniee injury and operation in the other one.

Thanks a lot for the guidance. I appreciate it alot. How long does it take to finish a pair of tires?

Tyres should last quite a while depending on the brand and terrain. I've had mine for a bit over a year and still going strong

Ok thats good, is their anything that anyone can recommend that I should consider getting that I will need or that will make things easier. Like oil for chain or a speedometer ect. How important is sunglasses? Is it a hassle to ride without them?

Nice choice going for the SB. As for tire life, that depends on the type of terrain you are going to ride. But my recommendation is made based on your location and not lifespan. Also, consider that you could have a scenario where you slash the side wall of a brand new tire, and not having a spare would suck. big time.

If you really want to measure your rides, use Strava. Its an app you can use to check route, speed, altitude etc. using your mobile GPS phone. Just don't be a stravasshole - lol. Google it.

Glasses are a great idea, not only for protecting you from the sun, but they also keep bugs and dust and wind out of your eyes. There is nothing worse than getting an eye irritation while you are out on a ride. And they look cool too.

Haha ok ill buy two spares then for incase. The tyres thats on the bike is maxxis crossmark. Are they good and should I consider buying the same ones for spare? What other tyres could be recommended? In the summer we have rainy season so its very wet and soft. But winter is dry with alot of sharp rocks.

Maxxis Crossmarks are not known for their grip. I have just finished a pair. They are pretty hardy and stand up to abuse, but are not exactly the best out there. Vittoria makes good tires. I run the Barzo up front and am waiting for a Saguaro for the back. You can pick up a pair for about R1400.00

They are also hardy and super grippy, and will work in dry and wet conditions.

Check out the website for some great deals. It s run by a buddy of mine, Paul. He has some good deals going all the time.
