  1. Good afternoon I've been off the bike for a while and recently got a frame from a friend. I'm looking to build a fun trails/enduro bike. Not wanting to spend to much money on the build. I still need most parts for the build. I only have a frame, please inbox me if you have anything. I really don't care what it looks like just want to have fun with it and get back riding the trails. 120 - 130 travel fork 27.2 seatpost/external dropper Seat Seatpost clamp Cranks Flat pedals 1x9 or 10 groupset Brakes 26er wheels eduro/downhill Tyres Tubes Short stem Wide Raiser bars 180/200 rotors Bb Grips Etc.
  2. I've had my eye on the trifox integrated handlebar and stem, also a bit sceptical on the quality of the product. You can find some reviews on you tube on some the products(didn't convince me to get it). You could also contact the guys from Kean bikes, they have some good quality import carbon components and very cool guys to do business with.
  3. 2012 Giant xxx adv 0 Guy's from Kean bikes stripped the paint, did internal cable routing and sprayed a 2k clear coat. Did a few upgrades. Xx1 group set Xt brakes Maxxis ardent 2.35 tyres
  4. Crossways tower between P.E and Jeffreysbay.
  5. Slowly doing some upgrades to this old steed. 2012 Giant xtc adv 0
  6. Absolutely love my grip shift running a gx for the last view years and waiting for a xx1 to arrive later this week, Cant wait to feel the difference. I feel the grip shift was a bit tricky in the beginning, had some accidental shifts but now it does not happen anymore. Grip shift really just feels so much faster and responsive especially when skipping a wide range of gears. It also allows for those difficult shifts running to fast into a switchback and having a sharp climb in the other side.
  7. Eks ook keen om dit tedoen, wat van ons begin by stanford vroeg oggend en doen dit reverse and back?
  8. Hallo daar, ek trek gansbaai toe binnekort en sal graag n paar group rides will join in die Hermanus area. Gansbaai het ook goie mtb roetes vir die wat belangstel. Ek sal met graagte van julle rondwys en n braai en bier organiseer.
  9. So I ended up doing the race just because the rest of my team was supper keen to get dirty and the shop we represent already paid race fees and transport was expensive. I managed to keep gear shifter to a minimum, I used every opportunity that came and went through the water and cleaned the bike. Also choose more technical or wider lines that 99% of people avoided so soil stayed firm on those areas. Will post an update on bike condition as soon as I strip it for proper cleaning.
  10. Having a short race within a few hours but not to sure if its worth racing in the muddy sludge. What impact can all this mud and water have on my mtb gears, bearings, brakes, fork etc.
  11. Hi mate I had same problem, in my experience the only thing that strap wil work for is giving you a rash. Rather start off with a stationary bike and take it very slow, do some kniee strengthening exercises and give it alot of time to heal up. Also stretching the kniee is very important at the right time. Focus on strengthening all the muscles aroand the kniee. I used some very stretchable ("verband") not sure what its called in english haha, I strapped my kniee nice and tight, still use it today when im doing squats. Also get some Of that exercise elastic rubber straps and use it for slow exercises. The flexibility is very important, I didnt do it so have a stiff kniee now. I use to have one of those kniee supporters but was not very helpful in my opinion. Feel free to contact me if you want some advise on exercises for strengthening.
  12. Well it was a BBCH race, and it took place in Bangalore(India) if you still interested in the next one then i can send you the race Callander haha
  13. it went down, 35km warm up ride to the venue and had bit of time to go araond course. Started out flatbox first 10min and then just a firm pace for 20min and last 10 flat out. There was one dude who sticked with me for maybe 30min then dropped out. . The rest of the group thought i will burn myself out but ended up lapping 70% of the group. It was lekka lekka and got a solid first place with a 33.7km average
  14. Wish that was possible, im to young, competitive and full of energy.
  15. yah few corners and a technical u turn, i was thinking of going flat out first ten anf then a steady pass for next 20 and last ten blasting it all.
  16. So im doing my first road race Tommorow, its 40min with lap distance of 1.4km. If you get lapped you have to drop out of the race, ive entered the amateur division.(renting a road bike) ive been riding alot of mtb on the road and i can push 30km average for 50min (work and back atleast 3-4 times a week) Do i go balls to the wall and just push it all the way and break my legs? or should i work with a plan? Im only doing it for some experience and fir some fitness.
  17. very nice ride ive done it a few times, on bainskloof just stick tight left when it gets to the corners, most drivers cut the corners coming from front but no serious incounters yet. i normally where bright colours like yellow to stand out. Ive only done this ride by myself and normally cars coming from the back is also very chilled if i give way as much as possible. (no shoulder over bainskloof) There is a nice water point as you go over the white bridge on other side of Wolseley as you about to start your climb going to Ceres. its almost straigt over the T junction on the left side of the road.
  18. admin please lock and take hubbers name off the topic
  19. would love to delete this thread or edit topic, not sure its possible
  20. ok adventurefreak made contact with me. We have came to the agreement that he will take shock back and refund the full amount and service. He claims not to be very active on the hub and didnt see thet I have messaged him. He serviced the shock himself and is shocked that the condition of the shock is not what he expected. He has apologized and and case is closed. He sounds like a good person and wants to fix what has happend. THE END...
