ROdTI: I havent read all 4 pages here but with regards to your fork but here is what I can see in your pics:

1st: Take X-ray' date=' camera spool and clean out the dirt from the fork seals, this often is a cheap and easy thing to do as it will stop the leaking.

Hey Colonel - fanks.

1st point intrigueing - you suggesting that there might simply be some dirt/grime stuck between the stanchion leg and the "washer" (i.e. the very first seal that the leg passes through), and that by using a cut -x-ray film/camera spool film, I must wrap it around the leg, and try and work it down and up in order to clear away some of the dirt from washer seal?

I might just try that.

Please see below pictures of grime/oil/dirt on one of my stanchion(?) arms...

Is this a serious problem?

What would need to be replaced?

Can anyone do this - I don't have a very common fork - White Brothers Magic 80 - any suggestions as to which bike store in the Cape Town area would have a techie who can service/make the repairs without having specific knowledge of the fork?

This looks like the seal has gone. It is not a major problem and

you can have it replaced during a normal service (I had exactly the same

problem on my RockShox).

Ask your LBS - they might be able to service it (mine services RockShox).

The only problem might be a replacement seal.
