Suntour Raidon Air 29" help please

I have the above mentioned fork and it would seem the damper cartridge is kaput [emoji22]

 

I now only get about 30mm's of travel ..... Does anyone perhaps have a broken one I can salvage parts from?

 

I have stripped it and it is definitely that!

Have you tried your LBS?

 

The Agents/Distributors are Dragon Sports (www.dragons.co.za), think your LBS may be able to help you out somehow, and you may be lucky to get a new damper unit to replace the busted one (unfortunately they are not supposed to be opened and serviced). Depending on the year model, you will probably find the damper cartridge to be the same in a range of the Suntour forks (like the Epicon for instance). It wouldn't surprise me if the damper on its own is pricey, but it should be less than a new fork.

 

Must say it sucks the the Suntour service in SA is not as good as it is in Europe or the states.

You should be able to get a new cart from Dragons. If not, check online. Not too many ZARs either, and pretty simple to fit.

Considering a Fox cart will set you back around 3 grand I'd say it's not bad at all.

Is your LBS helping you rebuild the fork? Because I have the same fork that might also need to be rebuilt. Is it not a case that the fork has to be sent to Dragon?

Mmmmmmm a little bit irritated as I don't have it yet due to some mix up and an air cartridge arrived, not sure where the blame lies so won't go bos yet but just maybe I'll get it this week

Finally got it yesterday, had one small problem but was able to use a piece from the old part to get it fitted. Will go give it a quick test at Rietvlei tomorrow morning.

The raidon is a very decent budget fork... mine is still going strong after 4 years.

With the replacement damper I am happy again, looking forward to another few years on it!
