So in other words they are a more expensive version of the eggbeater? and these only have 2 sides?

How many sides do you use on a pedal? I only use one at a time. How many time do you unclip while riding? Me, in a race, almost never.

Having ridden my Quartz pedals for about 4 weeks now, I can honestly say they are the best I have used. I have used Shimano pedals in the past and for the last 18 months Eggbeaters. The Quartz pedals engage easily - though not as easily as the Eggbeaters. The pedals feel more solid than the Eggbeaters, in fact the platform is better than anything I have ridden on or off-road. If you are concerned about ease of clipping and unclipping don't be. I have mostly commutted with these pedals so I have clipped in and out frequently. Can't comment on mud shedding yet. What is cool, is the spacer to protect your shoes. I'm sure Crank Bros will follow as their pedals wreck shoes. The only criticism is the pedals stick out below the shoe quite significantly so you are more likely to catch rocks or kerbs. A fairly big issue if you ride an Anthem with their already low BB. Overall though the best pedal I've used.

Hi guys... just thought I will let you know that the Quartz will be available in Black, Red and in White for 09. The first batch should be here end July...if all goes well. They are very BLING!

I was going to get a pair, but have been very put off by reviews up to now - so good to hear what people who've ridden them think.

linnega - it seems you have a bit of an issue with the stack height - would be interesting to know how they fare on our rocky terrain? Did you have any issues with your shoe - pedal interface?

Negative reviews? .....all I have received are positive...Just back from Europe...currently the fastest selling MTB pedal...there...and in the USA. People rave about them!! Unlike other pedals you need to use the spacers (experiment with the different thicknesses ) under the cleats....that's the secret behind them...as u get need to get your shoe's sole in contact with the pedal platform...get that right...pure magic.

4 weeks and mine are perfect. Thought I would never find a pedal as good as my Time ATAC. Finally have and they weigh half as much. Thumbs%20Up

Mr Look, still waiting on those spare cleats so I can set up my trail shoes.

And it LOOKs like it could trap mud. Eggbeaters are still tops, four sides to jam your foot into and no place for mud to clog it up. And at that kinda price it is definitely a fashion item for the 'Brag' MTBikers.

How do you get 4 sides on a pedal? You only use one side, the top. On a good pedal you only need to put your foot down and you will have a side to clip in. On my Ritchey SPDs I always engage, now matter how or where I try. Why do you need 2 more sides. It's not like road pedals where it's a tight wire act to get in. Next thing someone will make a 6 sided pedal en after that 8. Maybe Gillette and Shick should enter the market.

I cannot comment on eggbeaters but the mud-shedding on these Looks is excellent. The photo does not do the pedal any justice.

You are however screwed if you are trying to engage sides 2 or 4. You actually have to get off and turn the pedal horizontal, get back on and then clip in. You clearly dont have to do this with a 4 sided pedal.Wink
