I took the Trance on the Simonsberg FireRide to bond with it. It is after this that I can honestly say that I don't like the saddle, but really love the bike.

And here it is at the top of Helderberg yesterday. b5097a7a2f04e600a6c10ed74d67ee5b.jpg

It is a great bike for R30k. Upgrading slowly, but for now does absolutely everything and anything I throw at it.

I agree with PhilipV fist upgrades should be change tyres, I like the 2.4's and a new bar those 780mm rapide are great!

Trance, and reign. But only the frames are standard[/quote

Which models and what specs?

trance is the black one. Pike rct3 150, monarch plus rear, ztr flow ex, xo1 group, guide brakes, giant 150mm dropper, carbon bars 30mm stem

reign is basically the same.

BEST upgrade is the fork , after that do a rear through axle conversion. It will feel like a different bike!

Whats that involve and cost?

The fork, 10-12k.

The TA conversion entails new dropouts and axle, and new hubs, or new end caps if you have something like hope hubs.

Giant dropper-post on it's way, and then fork is next on my wish lists, just replaced entire groupset on my 2015 Trance with XT...

It depends what wheels you have. The axle convertion itself is Around R1200. But then you need TA wheels. See this is my point with the standard bike. You have to pay so much money to get it to a top spec bike. BUT once you have it there its amazing

Cool bike but the price is in wtf territory when you know it still needs tubeless, at least fork upgrade, bars, stem... flip rather buy the frame only and build a sled.

You ever rode one, even with standard components?

Sold my previous trance and picked up on monday.

Did tubules yesterday and set up my sag, bell etc. ( do these myself)

Only doh moment is realizing i cant use a saddle bag anymore, which i used on sub 60km rides to hold my stuff.

Shop around, got my TA conversion kit for R780.

My 2015 model has a Rapide R25 wheel upgrade, 740mm Renthral bars and 50mm stem.

Next up is the fork and rear shock but those are big money items so will be some time before they get done unfortunately.

The TA kit has made a difference along with the wider rims. Can only imagine the difference the suspension will make.
