Builders Warehouse in Sunningdale got yellow, silver and red reflective tape in 10 meters roles. About R150 per role (can't lekker remember the price). Makro got roles up to 20 meters in the same colors for a about the same price per meter. Initially put red tape on my silver bike, but it was MOER ROOI! Changed to silver on silver for a more muted approach during day light hours, but it works kwaai at night.

Thanks for the info!

For early morning, before dawn, Cape winter rides I usually wear leggings and a wind-proof riding jacket. After years of layering up and thermal long-tops etc, I bit the bullet and bought a proper European wind-proof jacket and it is fantastic.

But, my best and cheapest addition are my toe caps e.g. www.amazon.com/Pearl-Izumi-Elite-Thermal-Cover/dp/B003BLP0I2

The Pearl Izumi ones are great, but one can also find Anatomic versions. They keep your toes nice and warm without the need to wear a full bootie which can get sweaty. They make a huge difference to the comfort of your ride. I wear them on most mtb winter races as well. They help a lot with cold feet after river crossings or if you start in the rain.
