On my usual commute from Blouberg into Cape Town this morning I had Good,Bad and Ugly:

Good: through one of the narrow sections heading through Milnerton I had an 18 wheeler warn me he was coming by,  by simply giving his hooter a short burst. I was able to move onto the shoulder. So big up to the Cape Air 18 wheeler.

Bad: to the F$%#ing Moron Chubb security vehicle (wise cracks about security gaurds welcome) who pulled out into the road in Paarden Island without looking and almost sending me in front of a Merc. Nice one Toss!!

Ugly: 35km/h south easter headwind need I say more.

Cheer up. At least you'll have the wind behind you going home.

Don't count on it.....in the Cape the wind is here for no other reason than to piss us all off!

Did a ride from the northern subs a few years ago into a hectic headwind. Stopped at Blouberg for 5mins and headed home looking forward to the ride back only to discover that the wind had turned 180degrees and I was going to have the same fight back home

Do you stay on the West Coast road passed the High School?

I normally duck down the road in front of the library.  That section with the hedge on the side of the road is particularly scary especially in the morning. Last year someone got knocked down and dragged by the car for a distance at that section.

Chubb,  well what can you say?

yeah..not as bad as the 2 ProTour riders yesterday..

Two Quick Step riders hit by car during training

Team Quick Step's Kevin Van Impe and Kevin Hulsmans were involved in

an accident Tuesday near Oosterzele, Belgium. The pair was training near

Van Impe's house, along with two other athletes.

"We were just riding along easily," said Hulsmans, "when

at a certain point, a car coming from behind hit us and threw us to the

ground. The impact sent Van Impe clear to the other side of the road.

Luckily, there were no cars coming the other way."

"I ended up against a light post, and another one of our friends

broke his clavicle," said Hulsmans. "The driver stopped, and

help was there soon after. We were very lucky. Considering how fast the

car was going, and by the look of our bikes, I must say that it could

have been much worse."

Both Quick Step riders sustained minor scrapes and bruises on their arms

and legs.
