  1. Seems a common problem with SA cycling magazines. Most of the articles are "borrowed" from overseas mags, or as Helpmytrap says, rehash of old articles.

    Formula 1...

Been karting since the age of 7. Won every title imaginable. Given a F3 seat last year, third race finished on the podium. By his seventh race he won, and won another 6 races by year end. Got his Super Licence on his first attempt Has been signed to the Red Bull cadet team (Toro Rossa).
  3. Thanks, also cant wait, although I know I will regret saying that.
  4. When does Killarney start again this year?
  5. I remember Robbie Hunter once said, "Even without drugs Lance would have still ridden most of us off his wheel."
  6. Missed it this year and was wondering how well the new road route was received? Did it suit the mountain goats?
  7. The moment when you hear the double click of your cleats mating with the pedals, feel the suns rays after a cold wet winter, theres a slight warm breeze blowing and its from behind, the road lies before you and you know that this is what you do this for and no matter what the ride holds every fibre of your body reminds you that life is good and you are blessed because nothing and no-one can take this away from you.
  8. Following the crash 10 k's from the finish in the Giro yesterday, I see Cadel and others are coming under fire for not calling a stop to racing so the other contenders could catch up. Its a race and accidents happen. Race on I say, the wheel turns and its gonna happen to everyone some day.
  9. My first bike was a Checkers Hyperama special with white tyres, mudguards, dyno, luggage rack over the back wheel and brake extensions under the tops of the handlebars. Rode it for 7 years on the same wheels, cables and chain the entire time, obviously before anyone discovered that a chain was only good for about 2000 k's, that cone bearings only last a year or even thought of weighing a bike.
  10. Will be taking me home. On the bike path past all the traffic to Tableview. Roughly half teh time it takes me in my car.
  11. Get your wife to damage it. Mine used to stand in the garage, wife reversed into it and broke the frame. Now it stands in the lounge next to the TV. Smiles all round.
  12. Don't you think though that the weight limit is more to protect the general cyclist? Pro's can change their bikes at any time so if its found that a 5kg bike cant stand up to the rigours of a race stage they will just get on a heavier bike. Or if there are a lot of downhills on a stage get on a heavier bike to speed up the descent? Similarly if the stage has lots of climbs, get on a lighter bike. Whereas you and I are stuck with what we can afford.

    Cape Monster

I remember last year this race was cancelled/called-off because of too short notice. Is there talk of reviving it in 2014?

  15. Hi I am the cyclist in this thread. Sorry for only responding now, been out of action for a while. Bike was totalled, headset completely broken and the steerer shreaded. Cops, when you can speak to them, wont give me any details of the driver or what, if anything, has been done. Still havent been able to get on a bike as lots of deep soft tissue damage. Thank you to everyone who supported me, really appreciate it. Especially the cyclist who called the cops and ambulance I never got your details I am ashamed to admit. Also thank you to Dr. Mc Collough who stopped and assisted me. Hope to be back on a bike sometime next week.
