Giant Dropper Issue

Wondering if anyone has any experience of a Giant Dropper not locking when it comes back up?

It hasn't been used for about a month but that might be coincidence. It's not stealth but is all clean, clear and tight. The Switch isn't loose and the collar is tight.

I've got the info on how to break it all apart for a cartridge replacement but wondered if this was a common and an easy issue to fix.

Release some of the cable tension....

Are you still using the original cable and housing?

Check that the furrel at the end of the housing under the seat, is properly Inserted in the allocated slot...

Thanks for that, will check again. It's the same cable and housing as installed 18 months ago and has worked like a dream up until yesterday.

Okay but is the cable and housing which was installed 18 months ago, the original one which came with the dropper when purchased?

I'm assuming you have the black dropper? SL or something... The switch contact.?

That's the one. The black SL and all the cabling is the original that came out of the box.

If I was wiser when I did mine... I would have kept my original housing and replaced the cable only. Consider this.

But like I said.. check under the seat that the furrel is not hooking on anything.. then release some cable tension by twisting the barrel near the leaver... turning inward reduces tension.

If that doesn't help.. then it's the actuator or cable replacement.

Legend. Thanks for all the help!

Replace the cable and housing, I do so at least once a year. Tends to get gunk and water in the bend and it doesn't then lock properly

While you at it, unscrew the bottom of the seat post and remove the cartridge, don't replace it but cycle the actuator on the top a couple times and spray some Q20 in there to get any dirt out. Clean out the actuator nicely and all should be good as new.
