I did the Trans Baviaans and charged it while using it.  The trick is to use a cable that does not have data transferring capabilities.  Only has a positive and negative wire in the usb cable.

I did the Trans Baviaans and charged it while using it.  The trick is to use a cable that does not have data transferring capabilities.  Only has a positive and negative wire in the usb cable.

Easy as pie.  Made all my cables to work the Garmin in situ.

Use a tester to determine which wire is which and then cut all the wires except the + and -.  Do not go by colour as some cables use different colours.  Shrink seal when you are finished.

As said above, an on the go cable.. 

 

Some are marked as OTG cables, some phone shops sell them.
