Hi Roelof

Sorry to hear that you have had problems with your wheel after so little riding time.We have received the wheel in our service centre only on 3 May (however we were closed on Wed - public holiday) as well as Friday so this may have extended the time to look at your wheel.) While there were cracking issues on the previous version (Elite S) these wheels have been beefed up for the 2016 model (your version) and the wheels have increased their rider weight limit from 100kg to 120kg. At present this is the first wheel of this generation that has cracked (in South Africa) and have escalated this with head office in France.

Your wheel will most definitely be repaired under warranty to original factory specification.

Please feel free to contact the Mavic Service Centre on 021 461 6252 for more information on your repair (we only have the store contact on your wheel return)

Best Regards

Gavin

Thank You Gavin, appreciate it.

I have a set for sale and found tem to be brilliant, This is my third set and sold bikes with them on previously...

I always had faith in them and will still as these were always the bulletproof lightweight choice...

Maybe just a bad batch? As with many other things in this world?

Now this gives me confidence

I have had that happen 3 times over the last few years.

Twice under warranty, and once I paid for myself.

Each time I was given a loan wheel so that I could keep rolling, so I wasn't too traumatized.

It did take several weeks as they didn't have stock of rims and spokes, which I thought was weird.

Now this doesn't give me confidence..

Gavin, seems this is an issue on the Elites, what is the root cause of this?

Where can I take Kysrium elite hubs to be serviced?

Hi Ice cream man

The issue is not as large as it may have seemed to the forums and affected less than 3% of our total wheel sales and the Ksyrium Elite (and Elite S) was one of our top sellers (several thousand units).

The problem was solved by changing one of the machining processes on the rims. The 2016 rim however gets a completely new rim profile (rounder and wider) and the weight limit now rises from 100 to 120kgs

Once again despite the fact that there are several people who have had issues there are many many more that have had bullet proof Ksyriums.

If you have any queries you are welcome to get hold of me on the number above or gavins@dragons.co.za

Best regards
