Pretoria Area - Open Water swimming location

I am need of advice of where one can practice open-water swimming in the Pretoria area. Looking to get some time spent in the wet-suit, but I understand the water at public pools can degrade the wet-suit quickly.

 

Where do you guys get your swim sessions done? Do you do some wet-suit  sessions at places like Hillcrest or mostly at dams in the area?

I usually did my swims at Base 3 in Olifantsfontein road. Nice clean and away from the ski. Take the family with and have a lekker picnic. The kids dig it

I believe they are now called Stoke City Wakepark.

 

They closed on the 2nd of May for the winter and will open again in August. I will definitely check them out in the future.

 

Any other suggestions for the meantime?

I swim at Heia Safari almost every Sunday, might be a bit far to travel from Pretoria.

Thanks, it is a bit far but might have to do a session or two. Will take the wife and daughter along and make a day out of it.

you can swim at hillcrest pool (pta) too
