Reba Re-paint

Encouraged by Minty's Titus redo I reckon its time to re-paint my Reba. I can get decals through Cape Cycle Systems.

The thinking of gowing Minty's route and using paint stripper on the fork and then using 2K auto to re-paint. What do you all think of this idea. Any other suggestions.

 

Lastly what colour? I was thinking of a white crown and white sliders with World Cup decals.

Paint stripper !!!! Stay away from that stuff , does not matter how carefull you are it will get in somewhere and that will be the end of your shock . 2K will work perfect if your base is applied properly . That means your frame got to be prepared correctly and that means no paint stripper !! I am speaking from experience .

Forgot to add , I sure hope you got enough paint left for those bottle cages !!!

Yes, they were supposed to be Red, my father went temporarily colour blind when he bought them. No Comment.

DR - What do you suggest I use to de-paint, as it were, the fork.

The age old method of sandpaper and water .

Blimey, what grain. Not emmery paper please. How do you reckon I get all the paint outa em nooks and crannies behind the crown.

haha a lot of patience ! if you are going to strip the fork completely then I assume you can do the paint stipped thing but you have to clean that thing properly afterwards .

Thanks for the advice DR, really appreciated. 2 more questions then I'll leave you alone. What primer should I use and how does one clean the fork up afterwards? Bog roll and meths?

Thinners all the way for cleaning . Primer will also be 2k and then go for the sealer afterwards . Maybe you already know this but ensure the paint surface is warm !! i.e a good high watt spot lamp works well . Else a spot in the sun will do .
