Oh my Pike!

Been loving the Pike on my Enduro. After playing around with the pressure I had it dialed in just right. Then around 2 weeks ago I noticed some hand pain after a section of rather bumpy downhill track at WVP. Nothing major but now that I think about it, maybe indicative of something amiss. I had also noticed that I didn't seem to need the DPA travel adjust on my usual ride which involves a bit of climbing. Fork handled fine and no damping issues.

Noticed yesterday morning before a race that my fork appeared to have lost at least 30mm of its travel - so either the dual position system was not working or the negative air was over charged.  Playing around with the travel adjust knob established that the system didn't seem to be working as advertised. Adding air barely made any difference but it did seem to extend fully eventually. This was short lasted however and on the race it collapsed into its lower travel mode and stayed there. Didn't hamper performance however and damping seemed as good as ever.

When i got home I tried to release all the air from the fork. I did so but found that the fork stayed up in its travel and further depressing the fill valve let almost no air out. The gauge on my shock pump shows zero too. You could probably ride the fork as it is. All very strange.

I see from a googling that there are quite a few reported problems with air equalization and issues between the negative spring and main spring but I can't fathom how this can leave me with what feels like an airspring although there is no air in it. Any ideas?

I am going to do a air spring service and see if that helps. Anyone know what the suspension specific grease is that RS refer to in the manual?

Thanks Droo. Its about a year old - maybe 60km per week in that time. Its a 160mm DPA 26er version.

I tried the cable tie burp method but that provided only a tiny hiss on the left leg and didn't help at all...

Service time, definitely. Sounds like there's a leaky seal in there somewhere, and after that much riding your wipers will probably be shot too.
