TV coverage of local races

Curious about this one.

The CTCT got pretty much full route coverage of the elite batch. Slight coverage of the rest.

Tour Durban got a 15 minute highlight offering.

The Giro and TDF seem to be getting full multi day coverage.

Question is thus, shouldn't the local races be getting a lot more coverage than they currently enjoy?

as long as they replace Gerald and his merry men.

Double edged sword, production and airtime costs money.

Especially if you have pay a broadcaster to air your slot, even if the broadcaster approaches the event there's still the question of decently produced content package. Most of which is sourced in house by an event organiser and packed to the broadacaster.
Airtime (broadcast) is then sold on in structured deals as per ROI to sponsors.

Giro and TdF are world tour events with millions of followers, easy sell since sponsors are approaching events for that access. With small scale events it's the other way around.
