Shim for a Giant Dropper Post 30.9

Has anyone there used / had made / purchased a shim to fit a 30.9 Giant Connect (2016) post into a 31.6 seat post? 

My Q: does it work well, is it worth it rather then sell the post and buy a 31.6 specific post. Several of the MTB mags refer to the shims in their reviews of the post. 

New build about to kick off so lots of Q's!

They're very hard to get hold of because they're so thin.  You can make your own one out of a coke can.  Seriously!  It's not hard.  Works 100%

I bought a shim like this on eBay (30.9 to 31.6), was about R80, it worked perfectly. I tried the coke can thing first, it looked k@k and also the metal was a little too thin.

will an old phone screen saver plastic work if the gap is not to big?

Apparently Evo don't have the shim and actually recommend the Coke can method.

You can make the coke can look factory fitted if you spend some time on it.

 

Alternatively, speak to the guys at Lyne Components (the dropper post guys in Newlands) - we got one from them.  I don't know if they actually sell them, but they did give us one.

I was looking at them for a replacement post if I sold the Giant Post.

So far so good!  We bought five, some internally routed, some external - all running sweetly, although it's too soon for longevity reviews!  Smoother and easier actuation than the Giant posts.

Humm... decisions. I really liked the 1x trigger you can get as an extra.
