North West MEC killed in accident

Read on news 24 that an as yet unnamed MEC was killed when she was flung from her car. The two VIP protection men accompanying her were taken to hospital. Incident took place near Vryburg in the North West.

 

Posted here because the car left the road after striking and killing a cyclist. Amazing how often I read about government officials being killed on the road. Must be at least one a week. Some safety concerns here I would think. The other thing is being flung from the car makes me think no seatbelt. I have my own opinions on that..

 

But the sad thing here is a cyclist was killed. Best wishes to the family in the tough times that will follow

What I find hard to swallow, is that N24 focus on the MEC, and insinuate in the article that the cyclist is A) Not important, and B) Probably to blame, unless I am understanding it wrong. But from what I read, the article is made to sound like just one person has died.

Pathetic to say the least. And probably there must have been some speeding involved.

apparently if you are a "politician" of some kind you pass on due to an accident or are killed in the accident ..

 

but if you are some poor ordinary guy on a bike you are fatally wounded but apparently not killed in an accident

 

maybe article could read "two people killed in accident one cyclist and one MEC.."

 

wonder if they are sending a delegation to the cyclists family ?
