breakaway caught. Peloton swung off the main road onto a climb and one of the Astana riders almost stopped dead. Work done for today I guess.

Gap at 41 secs. A couple of riders trying to bridge the gap but Spanish tv sees fit to keep it a secret who they are ;-)

Ok things have calmed down but the pace is mental. Leader still has 31 secs with 12.6km to go. Riders are spread out all down the road.

Splinter groups all over the place but the big three are together again as far as I can see.

The commentators are struggling. Little road coverage because of trees so it's "muy complicado" trying to work out what's going on!

TdF will always be my favourite, its the race that first got me interested in road cycling and its like an old comfy armchair, it just feels right.

I battle to watch some of the other tours due to not seeing the usual riders doing their usual things.

Does any of that make sense?

Attacks off the front of the group. With 2 km to go Simon Yates buries himself to jump the gap which is only seconds now.
