Trail building advice

We use something called laterite, which is a clay based soil type. Mix that with the underlying soil and a bit of water. We're also using g3 which is stone of not more than 25mm diameter for further reinforcement.

Must say that the reason we're doing this is cos our underlying base degrades to sand. So we need a more resilient covering to prevent erosion

Thanks Myles.

The track is on the local shool grounds.

Our base is "rooi sand"...not ideal.

Was thinking of mixing up since part of the track is in a "sloep" where we can get clay.

Do you know the ratio?

Or is it better to buy the laterite in?
