Ace on 52nd Floor Posted September 6, 2016 Share Got this Raleigh mark II Chopper that looks quite original - but needs mechanical work. Any specialist on these bikes around cape Town area? Any hubbers out there who could help with spare parts for sale, cables/ front mudgaurd etc. Advise would be great in trying to determine age of this bike - Serial number....0871something. 71 maybe.....not sure. lurkerza Posted September 6, 2016 Share Your best bet is ebay for spares - there are loads of items going all the time. I bought a brand new set of tyres, a sticker kit and the red gear knob for mine off ebay. It is interesting to see that the Springs built choppers don't seem to have chromed mud guards, unlike the UK built ones so don't use the images from there to use in your restoration
New Landy new life Posted September 6, 2016 Share That looks just like the one my brother had some 35 years ago - good times had on that thing. Very cool machine

By the way, I think the Springs Chopper mud guard was chrome long ago...... I can see chrome underneath what looks like cement stains. So the bike is not in great shape but most of the parts look original. By the way, which chopper do you have?

New Landy new life Posted September 6, 2016 Share He was pretty young at the time but remember he got a speed wobble on a slight downhill and came pipe right in front of our GP's practice. Old lady took him straight in for a patch up. Sent from my GT-I9190 using Tapatalk
