I currently have a really terrible wheel set which still runs on tubes. I want to have tubeless tires for my bicycle but I have shimano FM M475's on at the moment. Is it a better idea to buy an upgraded wheel set or to just convert to tubeless on the current system? If I should convert then where should I begin to look?

Converting is pretty easy. You can do it yourself with rim tape from a bike shop, or gorilla tape from a hardware store, or get the local bike shop to do it for you.

There was a hope2/arch wheel set for sale in the classifieds recently.

Bear in mind that most wheelsets are not tubeless wheelsets, they have to be taped to become tubeless.

convert the wheels you have

you may need to buy new tubeless ready tyres or maybe you can use the ones you have

take your bike to a reputable bike shop and ask ..

then either :

DIY (from youtube) buy rim tape valves sealent etc costs about R600 (messy lots of swearing etc)

using your existing tyres and having the bike shop do it  about R600 (depending on the bike shop)

with 2 new TL tyres and the conversion maybe R1500 (depending on the tyres and the bike shop)
