Thanks for all the replies everyone. Sounds to me like the answer is to get a new geo trail bike instead of the Anthem.

Add to this that I'm 110kgs in the shade, 120mm 32 is likely gonna be horrible.

Might be a better idea. XL and 29er though but I get what you mean... when I bought the anthem the one I really wanted was that Pyga 110 29 but was just not a realistic option at the time.

Why not more than 120mm? Most forks I see (especially the 120mm and up 34s) are boost. My wheelset is non boost so I want to use the non-boost wheel on a boost fork.

I have a 100mm fox 32 that came standard. LBS said it couldn't be increased easily unfortunately...

Been pretty inactive on the hub for a bit, but this would be the best place to ask. So I have a 2013 Giant Anthem. It's served me really well, been upgraded a bit over time and it's generally not economical to replace. That said, I moved from Jhb to Cape Town 2 years ago and while the Anthem was perfectly fine for Jhb, it's a bit lacking for CT. I stay in Tokai, so blessed with riding straight out the door and into some great trails. I'd love to push the fork from the stock 100mm to 120/130mm in 34/35mm. First question is whether anyone has done this with any amount of success? I'm pretty heavy and realise it's going to change angles and stresses on the frame, and don't really feel like having the frame fail on me. Second, has anyone converted 100mmTA to boost successfully? I see the easiest is probably Rapide's kit with a 5mm spacer either side of the hub and a 5mm spacer on the brake rotor. Third, headset change from overdrive to normal? I imagine this isn't such an issue, and obviously a new stem needed... Would be great to hear if anyone has done this before, or if someone has an fork from an older trance that they haven't been able to offload due to the OD2 'standard'.

Yup. Mazda CX5 and tyres looking to be 4k each and up (goodyear/conti/Michelin) and Hankook also similar pricing.

Looking for a bit of advice on replacing xc tyres. Currently running Barzo 2.25 front and rear on 25mm internal rims. Gonna need to replace the rear soon and the front shortly after. Riding mainly in CT southern suburbs. Going to be my first winter in CT so not sure what to expect. Needs to be affordable - maxxis looking quite good but I'm used to Schwalbe / Vittoria so not entirely sure. Rekon, Rekon Race (rear only), Ardent Race all look like solid options. Is the crossmark grippy enough? Is the aggressor too much rolling resistance?

Yeah, they're not exactly light. Doesn't have a brake either but not too concerned about that as the ergonomics of those little brakes isn't particularly great.

Definitley don't need it to be Spez. the one I have for No1 we picked up for R1000 so was silly not to get it.

If I could find another second hand one then great, but the price of them new is a bit steep so was hoping for a more budget friendly one. I see there is a Trek in classifieds but it looks like it's been pretty roughed up.

Hey everyone. I couldn't find another thread on this even though I'm sure I've read one in the past, so apologies for the repost if it is. Looking to get a second balance bike for No2 and looking for some reviews. No1 has a Specialized hotwalk which is great, but they're pretty pricey - we got ours second hand in good condition. I really like the tyres as they're nice and grippy, some of the solid tyres seem to slip more when kids are riding indoors on tiles. Anyone got any other recommendations on either what to get (or what to stay away from)? The Champion Bikes on takealot look a good option and we'll priced but I've never seen one in the flesh, so a bit sceptical.

SS filter is good. Great for travel as you don't need to worry about the paper filters getting damaged or wet as the SS disc stays in the "lid" when you store it. You do get a bit of fines though and more oils coming through. Certainly not as clean as the paper filters but still a great cup.
