Paardevlei

Hi all,

The company I work at, has recently relocated from Tegnopark to the new shopping complex called "The Sanctuary" (next to the Vodacom Driving Range club, on the corner of Broadway Boulevard and De Beers Avenue)

Due to the traffic, I have no choice to but to travel by car to the new offices. But I miss my regular MTB rides (which I have done at Tegnopark).

 

I want to ride mostly in lunch break (12:00 - 13:00), or late in the afternoons, around 16:00 - 17:00, then return to office, for shower and work activities.

 

Where are one allowed to ride in the vicinity of The Sanctuary? For example, the Paardevlei area?

 

I know of the Helderberg nature reserve but that is on the other side of the town, and requires riding in traffic to it, and back to work, which I do not want to do.

 

Any suggestions?

The wannabee trails are very close to there so you can see if you wanna cycle there or otherwise you can cycle in the helderberg area, theres a small mtb track and lots of hills to do. That's Southey Vines, and what I would have recommended as well. Not ideal, but an option (less than 5km from The Sanctuary)

Thanks guys, I know about the Southey Vines, have ridden there before.  But not likely from my work (The Sanctuary) to it, because I am deaf and do not like to ride in traffic (too many close encounters to my likening).

 

Preferred to ride somewhere in a radius of 1-2km from my work, without having to ride on tarmac / roads.

 

Guess my other option would be to either jog in Paardevlei (but I actually want to do less of that, and more biking) or reserve all my MTB rides for the weekends  :-(

I know people have ridden there. Dont know if it is allowed. Maybe go chat to petie there at spez at the mall or henning at pedalworx close to builders warehouse.

It is apparently now possible to cycle within Paardevlie, I am not sure if it is/will be a peppermint thing, but owing to the fires recently they have allowed True Grit to use a section there for cycling.
