Saturday had mud; Sunday had mud - much less - a lot of riders didnt come because of the rain .. it actually turned out great.

 

I think the current thinking is : if you arrive on the Sunday - and enter the race - its unfair to the others who rode on Saturday and have some fatigue in the legs (i.e. you ride "A" batch , and miss the Saturday - then arrive on Sunday to take the Victory of stage 2)

What a blast! 

 

Saturday was muddy and very slippery. Everyone ended up on the floor at some point. Slipping and sliding and testing what limited skills we have. Route was shortened to 66km. 

 

Sunday was brilliant, still slippery here and there but sunshine and blue sky. Rode some of the York timber trails and it was superb. 

 

I know there is unhappiness about not being able to enter the Sunday on the day but I'm sure they will sort it out. 

 

Numbers definitely down due to rain but forecast showed that weather was clearing. Meant the queue at Sabie Brewery was very short.

I enjoyed the concept - good value for many. It was hard and tough but i can you ride here you van ride anywhere. Well done organisers.
