On the other hand there are those who respond to ads with "is it still available". You reply yes and never hear anything again. Why the f ask in the first place.

Agreed.  But I have noticed that on classified ads, despite 'following' the ad, I don't get updates when there is a response on the comments.  

The other alternative is to PM the buyer?  But then if you have PM'd 3 or 4 sellers it's difficult to track back to the original ad.

 

Not sure if the 'following' issue is specific to me?  Works fine when following a specific category in the classifieds...

Go to your My Settings/Notification Options" 

You'll be able to sort out the problem there. Also, when clicking "Follow", a screen pops up giving you the choice to recieve new comments instantly

Its the 1000 post rule AFAIK. Only deal with hubbers that have that many posts or more, that way you know they have a good interest in the sport and of course hub land.
