Just to add on what Token said. I trained and raced on my tubbies for 9 months with no sealant inside. I only checked that my tires was at the right pressure before every ride and after each ride took my superclue and sealed/glued all the little cuts. I never had a punctured but I follow the same process with my clinchers as well.

I don't leave home without a tube of bostik superglue in my saddle bag/bottle

I currently ride a set of 40mm tubbies and I couldnt be happier with them.

The feel is amazing, I normally dont notice stuff like that but I noticed the difference between the tubs and clinchers right away.

I have yet to have a puncture and Im not super concerned about it happening.

i have done a fair amount of mileage and have not had a puncture on the road or mtb for the last 3 years.

The real bonus is that 2nd hand tubbies are super cheap too.
