Old post I know, just taking a chance here, maybe some of you are still around.. Any of you guys know the expected lifespan of these Maxxis Ikons? I'm running a Ikon 2.2 at the back and a Ardent 2.4 on the front. After 3600km the Ardent still looks great, but the Ikon has very little tread left. I've put these tyres through hell and they are holding up very nicely! Will fit the same combo again..just wondering how far I can push the Ikon.. Maybe another 400km, or another 1400km? All previous tyres(Scwhalbe and Kenda) I had to replace because of sidewall cuts/snakebites etc. This is the first time I have to think of replacing tyres because of tread running low.

I haven't had experience with the Ikons, but I've had no issues with the Maxxis Crossmarks over the years.

Rear tyres wear faster than front tyres because there's more load on them. How far you push it will depend on whether you feel like a long walk home when the tyre eventually fails - but if your sidewalls are OK and you don't mind the lack of grip, test to destruction and you'll have your answer.

I only run Ikons on my bikes at the back and high roller II's up front. Your milage is good at 3 600km. Mine have been around there when replacing not because of failure but as @droo says grip becomes a problem. Not so much on the technical bits but on the climbing they loose grip quickly and you loose momentum. It's just frustrating but nothing else. If your slime is good then push them till distraction which probably won't be much longer. The high rollers hardly get replaced because of wear being up front but replaced because they tend to get perishing cracks
