Apple watch 2, discovery active rewards and strava

Those with a apple watch, how do i send points to discovery for a run or cycle and send the data to strava? Do i open and start strava and the build in work out app?

Or is there a service that syncs

Or is there another app that discovery will accept and that i can then push to strava ?

I have a apple watch 2 so might some times leave the phone.

Strava is only supported if you have a Garmin.

I use strava on my phone for logging distance etc, and use my watch simply in outdoor cycle mode. That way I get the full 300 points per ride. Even in a gym class. There I just use indoor cycle mode. As long as you exceed 70% heart rate for 30+ minutes, you get 300 points per day.

Start workouts on watch, and Strava on phone. Get your points directly from Apple Workouts, use Strava for the more useful info it gives.

Strava is NOT accepted by Discovery as a data source. Garmin is.

We would also like to know. Please be so good as to test on your apple watch 2 and revert with results.

Doubt this still works.

Discovery will only accept data that comes from the "Original" file, i.e. Garmin is the .fit file. Using another device, sending it to Tapariik and then to Discovery via Garmin will not work. There is information in the .fit file that is not present in the conversion, so it won't work.

On the Apple Watch (1st Gen) you can run both the Activity app and Strava at the same time - I've done it with success - but remember to disable the auto-pause function on Strava app on phone.

To see the route taken on Strava, the phone had to accompany the watch. AFAIK, the Apple Watch 2 has a built-in GPS so no phone required.

edit:
to get your Active Rewards points, use the Apple Activity app
to get more meaningful info, you would have to use the Strava app.

Here is the HR data in the Apple Watch Activity app - quite useless, as you can't export or view it in any other way.

And then the data from Strava, for the activity recorded at the same time:

The one blocks the other from reading HR

The workout source is still Strava and it doesn't give points

Remembering why i gave the apple watch 1 to the wife...

Apple watch 2 fixes a few things, ie battery life is awesome compared to 1.

GPS build in is awesome.

Speed is awesome.

Screen brightness is awesome.

Inability to see my activitys maps, not so awesome.

Inability to have a set of metrics to chop and change as my primary display not so awesome.

Not having multiple data pages not so cool.
