Americo Posted February 6, 2017 Share Hello everyone I'd like to buy an action camera to record some of the rides and races. I was thinking about the Garmin Virb Elite (the old one) https://www.amazon.com/Garmin-Virb-Elite-Action-Camera/dp/B00EOHUVTU/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1486372111&sr=8-3&keywords=garmin+virb+elite I know it's a bit bulky and heavy but I like the fact that the battery last for 3 hours and it has GPS and ANT+The other options are Stealth 2 Sports Action Camera https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00MCWWL0G/ref=s9_acsd_al_bw_c_x_1_w Ion 1011L Air Pro Lite Wi-Fi Camera https://www.amazon.com/Ion-1011L-Lite-Wi-Fi-Camera/dp/B00FZ3JTGI/ref=sr_1_23?s=photo&ie=UTF8&qid=1486371785&sr=1-23&keywords=action+camera what do you think about it?should I consider some different action camera? Tatt Posted February 6, 2017 Share I have the original Garmin Virb Elite - got it for a song when they were bringing the update out. It is a brilliant camera. Tom
Wil6 Posted February 6, 2017 Share My best advise would be, don't buy one. If you will be using it for work and really USE it, then fine. But for the occasional ride and so on, I guarantee that you will be sitting with 50+ unedited videos that you will never have even watched, and a Go Pro that gathers up dust
Tatt Posted February 6, 2017 Share Given the mayhem on the roads, mine is permanently attached to my bike!! If I ride on road to the mountain or commute to work it is on all the time. Best R1900 spent!
Tatt Posted February 6, 2017 Share Here is why I mainly use mine: https://community.bikehub.co.za/topic/166024-some-notes-and-positive-ideas-for-the-ppa-csa-to-implement/?do=findComment&comment=3058668 You'll have to scroll down to find the 3 videos I posted. I also use it when peddling offroad, it is great for filming yourself crashing and posting to YouTube... Tom

I been to some cool places and I actually regret not having videos :-(
Tatt Posted February 6, 2017 Share I have one of those and a stem cap Gopro mount - it works nicely for me, as I use a Rox 10 GPS. I film on highest quality, so battery running out isn't an issue, my memory card normally gets there first. How long does the battery last with all the sensors connected? Gps and ANT +. Or do you just keep the gps on and then merge the file of the ride? I'm trying to figure out if the Ant+ and gps are a deal breaker, otherwise I could look into different action camera, such as a older go pro with a battery pack and get up to 8 hours. If the battery of the garmin virb elite with gps on won't last 3 hours I'm not sure it's worth it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
