Stiff clunky XT m8000 shifter

Seeking some advice. I had a XT 1x11 system installed yesterday. All professionally done, but the shifting is terribly stiff and clunky. I previously had an XX1 shifter paired with a X9 derailleur that was butter smooth (1x10). This XT is like going back to my Bridgestone MB3 20 years ago.

I have looked at large number of online forums where there are great many guys with the same problem.

It this just the way the new XT shifter is or does anyone know of any adjustments that can improve matters?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Should not have the issue. Check your cables. Professional does not mean it is correct. Some "pros" do nice botch jobs. How about some pics of the install. maybe it is the cable loops or something that is causing it. Was the cables and sleeves all new?

I have seen some badly cut sleeves cause issues if the tips are not cleaned and cleared to ensure the cable operates smoothly. Also check the clutch on the derailleur if its really tight it can cause the shifter to feel hard and the shifts to be clunky. switch it off and try again just to see.

I must be honest i feel this as well,  when i got my new bike it came with XT m8000 1x11. My previous bike had Sram shifter and deraileur 1x10 the gears felt soft with the xt it just feels harder or stiff. Sometimes I think i ran out of gears but i just have to press a little harder.

It just takes some getting used to but I know what you mean. I "think" it is normal.
