Cradle kindness

It's easy to get lost in negativity and be overwhelmed by bad/sad news cycling stories. But sometimes you have to put your hand up and say 'THIS is one of the things I love about cycling!".

 

During my morning ride around the Cradle, I had the misfortune to have a rear puncture, and as I sat on the verge opposite Kromdraai café, wrestling with my gatorskin, no less than 4 cyclists stopped to check I was OK and that I had everything I needed to sort myself out. One oke in particular even whipped my tyre off at light-speed and would have retubed me if I hadn't exercised my Scots' stubbornness in finishing the job myself....

 

Thanks to you all. Nice to feel part of a community who look out for one another.

That Scots' stubbornness is a good thing .... otherwise it would only have been one cyclists helping you.  You would have been long gone before the other arrived ...

Good to hear feedback like this! One of the reasons I love cycling, both road and MTB, and why I have encouraged my kids to ride, is the camaraderie and selflessness of most cyclists! I have been in awkward situations, both on the trails and on the road, and have always heard the exclamations ' you ok bud!' from riders passing! One day you will be in a bit of trouble, so always stop and help when you can, is what I have taught my kids! Great to know that cyclists are looking out for each other, no matter how small the problem is...... good Karma is bestowed on those that help!
