update on screen repair:

After watching several youtube videos on how to do this and more importantly what tools I'd need I'm happy to report I successfully replaced the LED/screen and now the watch works 100%.

Due to the screen being pretty messed up, it came off relatively easily with the guitar pick thingy, the metal clip that keeps the connectors connected is a biaatch though and the tiniest tweezers you can get your hands on are required here (check the SO cosmetic bag). The you tube videos generally have a roll of their own seal tape so make sure you have figured out how your precut one works before applying.

I used methylated spirits and an earbud to clean the seal surfaces before applying the new seal.

Daughter is very excited about her "new" watch.

So there is no way to check Ave Hr during  exercise?

No, not on the series 1 unit.

 

I have the series 3, which also doesn’t show the average on the native workout app. I used the Strava app once but can’t remember seeing ave.HR on the watch.

The perils of hand-me-downs...

Plan was to handover my series 1 Apple Watch to daughter to use with hand-me-down iPhone 5. Couldn't get them to synch and only then found out that the last Apple Watch software update has ditched the iPhone 5 as a compatible device  . I suppose something had to go but it's frustrating when hardware can't be used due to software.

Anyone use their apple watch for indoor trainer, whattbike or spinning? I would like to use something that I can sync up to Strava because all my other training apps read data from there.

 

• The Strava APP doesn't support indoor bike from what i can see.
• The watch workout app has indoor cycle but the data doesn't sync up to Strava only syncs down, perhaps I have done something wrong?

 

Reason i like to train with the apple watch is just for the music feature and don;t have to have my phone on me the whole time.

I use IDT with Zwift on my iPhone and use Apple Watch as the HRM. All info uploads to Strava

Long shot, but I am looking to swap a new in box (unopened) 38mm midnight blue leather strap with stainless steel buckle, size L (large) for 38mm S/M strap.

 

First choice would be for a similar strap, new in box but I am willing to consider other options. Please PM me.

 

Core will not swap the strap as it was purchased within the period of the specials the resellers were forced to run and the value of the strap was written down to zero in their books.
